Girl About Travel Founder, Lyndsey Thomas

Straight-talking Lyndsey is a travel industry expert and a very well-travelled mum. Using her 20 years of global travel industry experience gained from working on behalf of major international tourism brands and her behind-the-scenes access to major UK tour operators and airlines, her goal was to create a travel brand with purpose and people - with like-minded women and mums at the helm.  

She founded the growing Girl About brand in 2018, which is built on a network of women bloggers across the UK - all representing their own cities and counties as the official 'Girl About' in their areas. There are now 33 official Girls About across the UK. 

Lyndsey, alongside other female travel industry experts and mums to include travel journalist (ex. Telegraph Travel) Rebecca Miles, has just launched the travel arm of Girl About.

I’ve launched Girl About Travel because I sincerely believe there is a real need for easy-and-quick-to-access, purposeful information for women and mums who put travel as their number one priority after their family. 

Wasting hours trawling through faceless travel websites such as booking.com and Tripadvisor drives me to despair.  My precious time wasted online comparing dozens of contradictory reviews from people across the globe.  

Where do you start? What do you believe? Who do you trust?  I struggle to easily find the holiday that I want for my family because I don’t want to book a one-size-fits-all holiday straight out of a big tour operator brochure and I don’t want expensive for expensive sake.

For me and my family, holidays are so much more than flying and flopping on a sun lounger….

As a family we want to get off the beaten track. We want to experience the local culture. We want to stay in authentic accommodation, in the best possible location, with plenty to do on our doorstep. It’s more than just time out in the sun.

And this what Girl About Travel is all about.
