Simple Steps To Inner Peace With Intentional Living

It is fair to say that the last couple of years have been some of the most unpredictable and unsettling years that many of us will ever see in our lifetime however, amidst the sadness and uncertainty we have all found renewed clarity in what’s important and what really matters to us and, fundamental to all of this is people happiness, and that’s where the art of intentional living comes in. In this post Intentional Living expert Sarah Stone will take you through 8 simple steps to gain clarity, purpose and prosperity.

Define your vision

Think about what’s important to you. Remember, intentional living is about living with purpose and taking inspired action towards the dreams, desires, and goals that are important to YOU. Start by thinking around these points:

  • Where do you want to be?

  • How do you want to live?

  • What would you like to achieve in 2022?

  • What does that look and FEEL like to you?

Once you are clear on your vision, craft a lifestyle that supports this by setting goals.

  • What small action steps can you take to move towards your vision every day?

  • What habit changes can you make?

  • How can you do more of what you love and less of what you don’t?

  • How can you be more conscious about the choices you make?

Don’t just write it down in the front of a diary or journal to be forgotten about when you turn the page, create a vision board of how this looks and feels and make sure that board is on display to keep you accountable.

Slow down

Rushing about, filling your calendar with events, meetings, and tasks – sound familiar?

STOP!

Being busy has become a badge of honour of late, and that’s not how it should be. Slow down and give yourself time to think and reflect. Pay attention to how you spend your time. What is working for you and what isn’t? What brings you joy and what doesn’t. Time is precious so spend it wisely.

If something isn’t working for you, take steps to change it.

Take action

You won’t get to where you want to be until you start the journey.

Small but consistent (imperfect) actions over time will have a significant positive impact on your life - those small but intentional steps you take each day will compound over time, to create a fulfilling life in line with your intentional vision.

Watch your language

No, not that kind of language! I’m talking about negative language; words like ‘should’ and ‘need’. It’s amazing how much you can change a sentence with positive language. Especially important is thinking about how you speak to yourself - would you speak to your best friend the same as how you speak to yourself in the mirror?

Learn to say NO

This one is a challenge, but it’s time to learn to say no to the things that do not bring you joy so that you can stay true to your values in the face of all the demands and distractions that will come your way. Living intentionally requires focus - there are so many distractions that can pull you away from what is important.

Create space

To greet the New Year intentionally set aside a couple of hours to give your house, bedroom, or office a New Year blitz. Treat your home the way you would a very important guest. Declutter, clean and tidy to invite new energy and fresh perspective into this new year of your life - welcome it the VIP way!

Feel it

How we feel in a space matters, so take time to think about the home you live in and how it reflects your life. Creating real Feng Shui is about creating a space that feels as good as it looks - you can walk in the door and feel it, it moves energy around with intention.

Have an attitude of gratitude

A grateful heart and a positive mindset increase your ability to feel inspired, to live fully and motivated to take better care of yourself. When you intentionally make gratitude a habit you consciously choose to reframe your thoughts – usually the negative ones - into more positive and productive ones. This is a way to mentally navigate away from ‘woe is me’ ruts and into the gratitude lane, which leads you forward towards growth, feeling good, and finding joy.

May you enjoy an abundance of love, happiness, great levels of health and vitality, good luck, and continued success and prosperity this and every New Year.
