The December Edit - Emily Tierney

Actress and influencer Emily Tierney shares with us her December Top 10.

I have a confession to make… With less than three weeks until the big day, I’ve barely started my Christmas shopping. I know - I’m not sure how this happened either. This time last year I was organised; I had all the time in the world to online shop for gifts and spent most of the festive period in lockdown wearing joggers! This year is BUSY, I’m being invited to real-life Christmas events and I’m actually spending Christmas with lots of family (who I need to buy gifts for imminently). Better get my head in gear! If you’re as disorganised as me this year, fear not! I’ve got your holiday wardrobe covered and found a few gifts that even the hardest to buy for relatives or friends will love.

Let’s start with Christmas Jumpers. I’m going to be controversial and let you into a secret… Tacky, flammable-looking Christmas jumpers are not for me. Especially the ones that play an annoying version of ‘Jingle Bells’. I’m not a total Scrooge. I just don’t love spending money on a novelty, cheap-looking item I’ll only wear once a year. I’ll be opting for something a little more versatile and useful like an embellished Pearl knit from & Other Stories. To give it a festive feel I'll pair it with a red satin slip skirt from Warehouse and then - post turkey - my most stretchy PJ bottoms.

If you’re wanting to go a bit more glam on Christmas Day the beautiful, jewel coloured Giselle Jumpsuit from Free People is a real showstopper (stretchy too). Or the super chic Ozzie Dress Motif from Fresha London is an investment piece that will see you through many party seasons to come.

I’m not hosting this year but if I were, my Christmas table would be adorned with hand painted Mistletoe Candles from Original Studios (they also make a great stocking filler). Independent brands need all our support after the pandemic so I’ll be buying gifts from small businesses this year. Sunday Living sell the most gorgeous range of vases and gifts for interior lovers and I’m hoping the heavy hints I’d dropped to my husband about their Stoneware Face vase have been noted! I’ll also be shopping from Elizabeth Scarlett. Their embroidered pouches and makeup bags make such a special, treasured gift (and can be monogrammed) and a large portion of their profits go to Charity.

2022 is fast approaching and nothing screams NYE like sequins! I’ve been eyeing up the sequin Jumpsuit from River Island and the Estari Sequin dress from French Connection. If you plan on dancing your way into the new year then I’d fully embrace the return of the platform shoe trend (so much comfier than stilettos) and nab yourself a pair of the pink velvet ones from Ted Baker. Here’s hoping 2022 is a little more gentle with us all. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all!
