New Season Style - Emily Tierney
The shops are full of hot-cross buns and 99p daffs, the first of the Magnolia trees are starting to bloom and my floral dresses are out of storage. SPRING IS IN THE AIR! I’m so excited for sunny spring days but I think it’s definitely going to be a while yet before we can fully ditch the layers. The quilted jacket, which has been having a serious ‘moment’ this winter, has had a spring update and the Doen ‘Tours Quilted Printed Jacket’ will brighten up any spring wardrobe. Zara’s printed jacket is equally gorgeous (for a fraction of the price) and will look great with jeans and sandals as the weather warms up.
When it comes to curating a capsule wardrobe no item could be more versatile and timeless than the humble trench coat. A good quality trench like the Cos ‘Belted Coat’ will see you through many springs to come.
If you’re ready to ditch the jeans but want the option of still wearing tights and boots, the Warehouse ‘Carnation Floral Ruffle Detail Midi Dress’ is a great option. I’ve been dreaming about dressing up my spring frocks with a pair of the Russell and Bromley ‘Flawless Pink Platforms’ - guaranteed to add a splash of colourful joy to any outfit! If you aren’t quite willing to risk losing a toe to frost bite, cowboy boots are big this season and the Mango ‘Leather Cowboy Boots’ will look great under floaty dresses or paired with jeans.
The Hush ‘Amina Midi Skirt’ is the perfect spring/summer addition. Pair it with a simple white tee, Air and Grace trainers and throw over a cardi or jacket until the weather warms up.
As the sun begins to make more of an appearance it’s vitally important to wear SPF (yes you can still suffer sun damage from weak, pathetic British sunshine). I’ll be attempting to keep my wrinkles and sun spots at bay by applying Murad ‘Citi Skin SPF 50’ every day before I apply my make-up. And if you’re ready to brave bare legs with your spring dresses, Tan-luxe’s new offering ‘The Creme’ will have your winter legs spring-ready in no time.
After another long, difficult winter I think we’re all ready for longer, brighter days and hopefully this edit gets you in the mood for springtime. You’ll find me frolicking in a field of lambs and scoffing Cadburys mini eggs in my L’Atelier London ‘Freya’ floral dress!
