Autumn Picks For Home & Wardrobe

Actress and influencer Emily Tierney shares with us her A/W 21 lust list.

When summer decided to finally show up a few weeks ago for a tantalising two day mini heatwave, we all rejoiced.  How much did we all need those few days of sunshine after a washout  August? But now here we are in the middle of September. Pumpkin spice lattes are on the menu, Christmas displays are appearing in the shops and I’m ready to crunch some leaves in my new winter boots or cosy up in a chunky knit with a mug of mulled wine. Okay, I’m getting a little ahead of myself, but it’s time to pack away the summer dresses and embrace the transitional period from summer into autumn/winter. And Boy have I been drooling over some of the high street’s A/W21 offerings.

This ‘can’t make it’s mind up’ weather screams out for trench coats. This season I’ve invested in the super versatile, timeless ‘Cassidy’ Trench from Weekday. If you’re after something a little warmer I’d embrace the quilted jacket trend and nab yourself the Belt Quilted Coat from Mango, perfect for layering over jeans and a cosy knit. Talking of knitwear I’m loving the chic Breton stripe jumpers I’m seeing all over instagram this week. If you’re dreaming of the Totême striped turtle neck (which has been sending the fashionistas wild) but don’t want to part with ALL your hard earned cash there are plenty of similar styles from other brands at a slightly more affordable price point. I’ve spotted a lovely one from Next for just £36.

Now, nothing gets me excited for A/W like investing in a good pair of winter boots and this season we are spoilt for choice. There are some gorgeous options out there like these chunky sole Chelsea boots from & Other Stories and these gorgeous, suede Sezane ‘Adele’ boots which I would style with mini skirts and chunky knits. I’m also thrilled that the gingham trend seems to be here to stay and I’ve spotted the perfect long sleeve Gingham maxi dress in Warehouse that will see you through the next few months.

As the days get shorter, autumnal evenings call for long baths and cosy nights on the sofa. I plan to soak in the tub watching episodes of Gossip Girl with a large glass of vino balanced on the gorgeous wooden bath caddy from The White Company. I’ll also be snuggling up with a book under a cosy blanket from H&M Home in my super soft MadeWright London Pyjamas (if you want to be extra boujis you can even have your initials monogrammed on your chosen pair). And to embrace the full ‘hygge’ cliche you know I’ll be burning the new ‘Paris’ candle from Diptyque (perfect autumnal notes of spicy vanilla and polished wood) and dreaming of strolls through the Jardin des Tuileries watching the leaves turn red/brown with a cup of hot chocolate from Angelinas… I might just have to make do with series two of Emily in Paris on my sofa but you get my drift! Autumn - or ‘fall’ as our friends across the pond call it - I am ready for you.
