Autumn Edit - Natalie's Style File

It’s the time of year where nature puts on a magical show and we begin the slow steady process of hibernation. Leaves of brown, yellow and red fall to the ground and rustle beneath our feet, the sun hits lower in the sky and a feeling of quiet cosiness fills the air. The early Autumn makes even the dreariest of rainy days seem mystical as we begin to embrace the change of the seasons. However whilst Autumn can be undoubtedly beautiful, it can also be unnerving for any one who struggles with their mental health. The drawing in of the nights can feel unsettling and the winter can seem harsh, nevertheless with a few adjustments to our mindset and injections of colour into our wardrobes we can give ourselves a head start in beating the winter blues as we face the longer months ahead.

Below are a few of my favourite pieces from my fashion and beauty cupboards that I always find help me feel a little better at this time of year. Firstly my navy wrap coat and check scarf combo. I swear by these for feeling stylish but WARM. Paired with my knee high suede boots and a bobble hat I always feel good to go for those occasions that need in between styling, you know the ones…smart/casual! I also love the texture of all of these pieces, they’re cosy and soft, which is just what you need when you’re commuting on a train at 6pm in the evening or getting in the car first thing in the dusk hours. I’ve had all of these items for well over 3 years and they still look stylish and so i’ve found some similar pieces available to shop now which you can add to your evergreen capsule wardrobe. They’re classics and so definitely worth investing in.

Next up beauty and home. As the weather changes I often feel like I need creamier textures on my face and body and the Neom Bedtime Hero Magnesium Body Butter is an absolute must have. Not only does it nourish your skin it also contains our daily recommended dose of magnesium. This is a game changer as as we age we become deficient in magnesium and so this two in one product is a real life saviour. It feels luxurious, smells amazing and benefits our over all wellbeing. 10 points! My next favourite is BAO’s Recovery Face Cream. I love this so much that we actually stock this in our beauty collection. It is so nourishing to the skin that even those with sensitive skin and eczema are able to use this face cream. It’s organic and handmade meaning that all of it’s ingredients are natural and it’s a beautiful treat for chapped or wind burnt skin. Speaking of skin feeling chapped, my lips are always next on the list when it comes to feeling sore in the Autumn/Winter season however my favourite lipstick Loreal’s Colour Riche Matte Erotique is so creamy that it helps to keep them moisturised when the weather turns. I also use it as a cream blush when i’m in a rush and I need a little pick me up! I’m a real fan of a multitasking product. Finally, Autumn signals hibernation and what better way to bunker down than with blankets and candles. One of my absolute favourites for this time of year is Jo Malone’s Velvet Rose and Oud scented candle. I love that it’s in a black case which emphasises the richness of the fragrance, creating a feeling of warmth and luxury throughout the house.

Autumn is a time when you can invest a little bit more in quietness and create pockets of calm throughout the day. It’s important that we acknowledge this as it significantly helps to feel that little bit more cared for when the world around us can become cold and harsh. Let me know if any of these work for you!
